Professor Bandopadhyay is back in Kolkata

Pandit Sanjoy Bandopadhyay is back to his Kolkata home after four years of intense academic activities at the Central University of Sikkim. He was there from August 2017 to June 30, 2021. [Read the post 'Adieu Sikkim University'  for some reactions from his students and colleagues .]

Felicitation on the Teachers’ Day 2020

Professor Sanjoy Bandopadhyay was felicitated by the Central University of Sikkim on Teachers’ Day, on 05 September 2020, for his outstanding contributions to the development of the university. Click to reach his felicitation speech.Click to reach his felicitation speech.

The whole program was held online. It was well attended by the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, other Statutory officers, the Deans of Schools, Heads of the Departments, many professors, and other teachers of the university.

Troilee Dutta provisionally awarded PhD degree from the Rabindra Bharati University on 03.09.2021 on her research titled  ‘The Presence of Sarod in Kolkata after Independence: An Analytical Study of the Cultural Tradition’ under the supervision of  Professor Sanjoy Bandopadhyay.

Prof. (Pt.) Sanjoy Bandopadhyay was invited by the Faculty of Performing Arts, Banaras Hindu University for a talk on 06 July 2020. Prof. Bandopadhyay talked on ‘Conceptualizing the Micro to reach the Macro: A small music-lantern from my Revered Gurus’.  More than 1200 music enthusiasts attended the talk online and later there were many more who listened to the recording online. Dr. Pragya Pyasi, a disciple of Panditjee, has joined the University of Hyderabad as an Assistant Professor in Music earlier this month.

Sukanya Chatterjee received the provisional certification of Ph.D. degree on completion of her research titled “The Effect of Hindustani Raga Instrumental Music as an Intervention for Children with Sub-Average Intellectual Functioning (IQ 35-55)” from the Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. The research was conducted under the supervision of Professor Bandopadhyay.

Pandit Sanjoy Bandopadhyay will feature at the National TV channel in the National Program of Music. The program will be telecast on August 10, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. at the DD National channel. Pt. Tanmoy Bose provided tabla support.

Rajrupa Chaudhury, a disciple of Panditjee, played sarod recital at the Head Quarters of Commonwealth Nations, the Marlborough House, London. It was arranged as a part of the celebration of the Commonwealth Day on 11 March 2019. The Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales Prince Charles, and The Duchess of Cornwall graced the occassion.
